Our Story
It all began with a letter…
When Rachel was nine and in the third grade, she wrote a letter, describing a place where everyone of all abilities could play without fear of judgement. This letter would change her life and the lives of those around her for many years to come. .
Five years later…
Five years, and half a million dollars later, the hard work and determination of Rachel and her community came to fruition in the completion of the Rachel’s Fun for Everyone Playground. The playground sits in Optimist Park, Vine Grove, KY and gives joy and the gift of play to everyone who enters through the gates each day. Since opening the playground has allowed a countless number of children and adults alike to experience the joy that play can give. The hope and determination of a nine year old and her community, resulted in some great achievements. It just goes to show, when you are brave enough to put your dreams out there, they might just come true!
Onto the next endeavor…
Rachel and her family, with the support of the community, are now raising funds for an all accessible splash pad to sit adjacent to the existing playground. With the addition of this water play space, not only will the scope of inclusion be broadened, but the opportunity for play will increase enormously. We are so excited, to make this a reality and see once again the impact of inclusive play spaces.
